Help Us Keep Things Fired & Flowin'!

Full-timeHamilton Place35–40 hours a week$15–$17 an hour18 or older

Love people, color, and a studio that runs like clockwork? Come lead with us.

At The Pottery Place of Chattanooga, guests come in to create a mug and leave with a memory. We host date nights, birthday parties, field trips, clay classes, and members who are deep into their own creative practice, all on a busy day. We’re looking for an Assistant Studio Manager who wants to make every one of those visits feel easy, welcoming, and a little bit magical, and who wants to grow a team while they do it.

What you’ll do

  • *Your work will be a mix of being on the floor with guests and running the behind-the-scenes engine that keeps our Hamilton Place studio on Lee Highway humming.

Lead the studio day to day

  • *Coordinate and oversee the daily flow of operations so everything meets our studio standards, from the first table set to the last kiln load
  • *Open and close the studio, act as manager on duty, and be the go-to person when things get busy
  • *Handle cash, register reconciliation, and deposits accurately
  • *Keep the studio clean, safe, organized, and photo-ready
  • *Turn a guest’s rough moment into a great one with calm, friendly problem solving
  • *Help keep pieces moving smoothly through glazing, firing, and pickup

Build and grow the team

  • *Schedule, manage, and coach associate-level team members
  • *Lead one staff meeting each month
  • *Host individual one-on-ones that help each person grow
  • *Train new team members and model the hospitality we’re known for

Keep the studio stocked and the word out

  • *Place and distribute internal supply orders across the studio
  • *Track inventory of bisque, paints, glazes, and retail
  • *Post events and keep the website updated with current events and need-to-knows

Help shape what’s next

  • *Work directly with the Studio Director on special projects and studio growth
  • *Bring ideas for events, workflow improvements, and new ways to delight guests

You might be a great fit if you

  • *Have 1–2+ years of supervisory experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or a similar guest-facing setting
  • *Are a natural coach who gives clear, kind, direct feedback
  • *Stay steady when a birthday party, a walk-in rush, and a phone call all land at once
  • *Are organized, detail-minded, and comfortable with scheduling and ordering tools
  • *Can update a website and social posts (Squarespace experience is a plus)
  • *Can stand for long shifts, lift up to 50lbs, and work weekends, evenings, and holidays (our busiest and most fun days)
  • *Get genuinely excited about creativity, even if you’ve never touched clay

Why you’ll love it here

  • *A creative, upbeat workplace where every day looks a little different
  • *Seasonal profit sharing during our busiest stretches, so when the studio wins, the team wins
  • *Real professional development opportunities, including like ceramics conventions and industry events
  • *Values-centered coaching and growth conversations
  • *A direct line to leadership and a voice in how the studio grows
  • *Staff discounts and perks
