Pottery tracking

Every piece, from the painting table to the pickup shelf.

"Is my mug ready?" should take two seconds to answer. StudioConnect knows where every piece is — waiting, in which kiln, out and checked, on the shelf — and roughly when it will be ready.

What pottery tracking software should do — and StudioConnect does

  • The production board

Every visit with pieces still in the studio, by state: in progress, in the kiln, out of the kiln, ready, picked up. Overdue pickups rise to the top.

  • Kilns, loads and lanes

Load a kiln starting from the kiln: everything waiting for what it fires, by ticket. Wet clay is caught before bisque. Back works until the kiln is unloaded.

  • Clay that fires twice

Drying, bisque, then its glaze firing — each piece shows an about-day, and an order says "2 of 3 ready — the clay about Nov 3".

  • The Forge

What each firing cost, element wear and life, witness cones, and the pieces that came out wrong — each with a decision and a guest to tell.

  • Pickup notices

Texts or emails when it's ready — all at once or as parts come ready — with reminders for pieces left on the shelf.

  • The ticket on screen

Read any firing slip or pickup ticket on screen, exactly as the printer would get it.

A day with it

  1. MorningThe bisque kiln is unloaded. Twelve clay pieces go on to their glaze firing with one tap.
  2. NoonA guest calls. Their order: "2 of 3 ready — the clay about Tue, Nov 3".
  3. EveningPieces checked and on the shelf. The texts wait ten minutes, then go — one per guest.

Questions studios ask

Can StudioConnect track pottery through the kiln?

Yes. Pieces carry a kiln lane, go into a recorded kiln load, and come out together when the firing is unloaded — so every guest's order says where their piece is.

Does it track kiln costs and element life?

Yes. The Forge records each firing's energy cost and cone hours, tracks element wear, and logs witness cones and defects.

How does it handle clay that needs two firings?

Clay is marked bisqued when it leaves the bisque kiln and waits for its glaze firing. It can't reach the pickup shelf half-fired unless you say it goes home bisqued.

Can it text customers when pottery is ready?

Yes — by hand from the board, or automatically. Each notice waits a few minutes so a whole load becomes one message, and can be stopped before it goes.
